How to Get Rid of Acne - The Most Effective Ways to Treat Acne

Comments (0)

Acne can be quite problematic skin problem and for some people it is really hard to get rid of acne. It forms when sebum gets blocked and bacteria begins to grow. Fortunately there are some very effective ways to treat it.

#Try not to touch your face with fingers

Your fingers are covered with oils, sweat, grime, bacteria and viruses that cause acne. Bacteria also spreads easily from person to person or any public spaces. Clearly it is difficult to not touch your face so at least wash your hands frequently.

#Get regular exercise

Regular exercise will reduce sebum production and help clear out your pores. The sweat will take dead skin cells with it through pores so dead skin cells will not lead to blockages that easily.

#Wash your skin and take showers

Use gentle cleansers or soaps to wash your skin twice a day. Sweat and dirt build up on your face throughout the day. Sweat leaves dead skin cells and salt behind on your skin and if you do not wash these dead skin cells and salt off, they will block already cleared pores and cause acne.

#Choose right make-up products

It is good to try different type of make-up products to see which ones suit for you. Use oil-free or non-comedogenic make-up if you believe your current make-up products cause pimples. Remember to cleanse your makeup every day before you go to sleep.

#Birth control pills

Birth control pills contain a mix of the hormones, progestin and estrogen, that lower sebum production and often improve hormonal-based acne breakouts. If you want to use oral contraceptives to reduce acne breakouts, ask your doctors opinion, so he or she can prescribe the one that will suit for you

# Medication for acne

Using topical antimicrobials such as benzoyl peroxide and azelaic acid might help. Azelaic acid is used to treat mild to moderate inflammatory and non-inflammatory acne. Benzoyl peroxide kills acne bacteria that causes inflammation in pores. Topical retinoids, such as Adapalene and Tazarotene are good treatments in mild or moderately severe acne. Oral antibiotics, such as Erythromycin and tetracycline should help with moderate or severe acne. Isotretinoin is an oral retinoid that is good treatment for very difficult acne.

#Light therapy

Painless specific wavelengths and heat from the light destroy bacteria that causes acne. It is effective in treating acne vulgaris. Improvement of acne can be seen in mild to moderate cases.

#Microdermabrasion

This treatment unclogs blackheads of the pores. Skin is not damaged in a process because the layer of skin that comes off has only dead cells and dirt. Microdermabrasion requires several treatments for many months to achieve good results.

#Lasers

High intensity lasers can be focused on problematic acne, producing heat under the skins surface. It is able to end the oil production without doing any damage to the surface of your skin. Laser treatment reduces acne by half after just couple of sessions.
