Acne Vulgaris – An Overview

The acne vulgaris or people usually call it acne is skin disease. It is where a condition of the skin that happens due to the overproduction of the oil by the skin’s oil glands. Normally the oil lubricates the skin; however this overproduction floods the skins with oil and blocking the oil duct.

Commonly types of acne are blackheads, whiteheads, pimples and cysts.

Blackhead, is a blackish bump on the skin. It is a type of acne that typically caused by excessive oil and makeup, that have accumulated and blocked the oil duct.

Whitehead, is a type of acne which is similar to blackheads, however the excessive and accumulated oil resulted a whitish bump instead of black.

Pimple, is a type of acne resulted from an inflammation of skin. It usually developed after blackhead or whitehead becomes infected.

Cyst, is a type of acne that grows deep within the skin, in form of a closed sac. The sac can contain fluid, air or semi solid substances.

The areas those are most suspected to be affected by acne would be face and the upper neck as those two are the area that contain a lot numbers of the oil glands. However, chest, back and shoulder can also have acne as well.

Mostly, acne occurs during adolescence that affecting majority of the teenagers and continues into their 20s. For most people, acne tend to decrease of even disappear when they reaches early 20s however some people can still suffer from acne even until their 30s or even 40s.

As acne usually appears during adolescence where most people feel socially insecure therefore the bad effect aside of scary face would be psychological, such as low self-esteem, depression or maybe suicide
